CPL Group Congratulates Sir Mahesh Patel OBE on the Launch of His Biography, The Power of Perseverance.
CPL Group – PNG proudly congratulates its Founder, Sir Mahesh Patel OBE, on the successful launch of his biography, The Power of Perseverance. The official launch event, held on Thursday 12th December in Port Moresby, marked a significant milestone in celebrating Sir Mahesh’s visionary leadership, resilience, and immense contribution to Papua New Guinea.
Written by author Paul Upham and published by HarperCollins Publishers India, The Power of Perseverance reflects Sir Mahesh’s extraordinary 40-year journey, from his humble beginnings as a young pharmacist arriving in Papua New Guinea to becoming one of the country’s most respected business leaders and philanthropists.
At the launch, Sir Mahesh shared the inspiration behind the book, crediting his wife, Lady Usha Patel, for suggesting the fitting title that encapsulates his life story. “This book is not just about my journey; it’s about the power of resilience, curiosity, and embracing every opportunity,” he remarked.

In addition to the press launch on December 12, an exclusive event was held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Crown Hotel in Downtown Port Moresby. The intimate gathering featured a Q&A session with Sir Mahesh, where he shared deeper insights into his journey and the inspiration behind the book. Guests who purchased copies of the book during the event also had the opportunity to have them personally autographed by Sir Mahesh.
The event was attended by Sir Mahesh’s close friends, business associates, members of the Young Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and the Hon. NCD Governor Powes Parkop, alongside many others from his vast network.
The book aims to inspire the youth of Papua New Guinea to embrace perseverance, humility, and self-belief. The Power of Perseverance will be available in all City Pharmacy stores starting January 2025 for K49 per copy, proceeds from the book will go directly toward supporting the CPL Foundation Inc.’s ongoing community initiatives.
