Water Harvesting Project

The CPL Foundation, under the vision and leadership of Sir Mahesh Patel, is preparing to launch the Water Harvest Pilot Project in December 2024. Extending through 2025, this innovative initiative features the Meghdoot Atmospheric Water Generator System, a cutting-edge technology that harvests water directly from the air to produce purified, clean water. The primary objective of the project is to harness atmospheric humidity to create a renewable water source for internal use by staff at the Distribution Centre, Country Fresh Bakery, and Support Services.

The Meghdoot system aligns seamlessly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by offering an eco-friendly solution to water scarcity. This advanced technology reduces both carbon and plastic footprints, reflecting CPL Group’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability. By ensuring access to clean drinking water, the project enhances the well-being of CPL staff while also laying the groundwork for broader community impact.

Waterborne health issues remain a significant challenge across Papua New Guinea, and this initiative aims to address these concerns. By expanding the project’s reach to rural communities in the future, CPL Group aspires to alleviate health problems caused by unclean water. The Water Harvest Pilot Project not only underscores CPL Group’s dedication to sustainability but also represents a crucial step toward improving public health and supporting long-term environmental and social well-being in the region.
